Fire Emblem Mages - the S ladies and gentlemen

 

S-rank Characters:

Oboro-Voiced by Marisha Ray (yes, Dope Monk S***, Imogen’s my girlfriend, Romance the Sword Marisha Ray).  Oboro is a tailor by trade, armed with a spear in battle usually.  She loves Takumi, the younger Prince of Hoshido, the most and I married them when I played Fates.  She comes across intelligent, caring and skilled, and is honestly better than Takumi deserves since he coins the phrase “Nohrian Scum” about their enemies.

 

Hubert-Voiced by Robbie Daymond and how I knew him before he was on Critical Role.  If Edelgard were the President of the United States, Hubert would be the Head of the CIA, handling all Black Ops beyond the public or President’s knowledge in the name of National Security.  This is off-putting, but at the same time, you do get a sense that he does it because he’s looking out for Edelgard or Ferdinand or Petra, who are key to Edelgard’s diplomacy and working government.  He may have a relationship with Ferdinand if you bring them to “A” rank, but their epilogue doesn’t mention any shared housing, though it mentions they became the “Twin Jewels of Adrestia,” and they have an adversity that makes them also more competent and better at their jobs.  In a way, they’re like Hamilton and Jefferson under Washington.

 

Byleth-The tier used the male, voiced by Zach Aguilar.  If it were the woman voiced by Jeannie Tirado, she’d be SS-tier.  Always picking up students’ objects and handing them back to their owners, taking care of their students (even marrying one), and empathetic to their house, Byleth is a brilliant tactician, fierce sword-wielder and capable learner.  I have strong feelings that the woman is a lesbian who has a crush on Edelgard and will defend her from any and every danger, dispensing wisdom from her father, Jeralt, and helping her deal with her depression.

 

Marianne-Voiced by Xanthe Huynh.  Marianne is quiet and shy and can talk to animals.  She apparently has the “wrong type of crest” (continuing the theme that their crest-based society is causing more harm than good), which caused her to lack self-confidence.  Much like her voice actress, she is a major sweetheart.  She only misses SS because I would want Lysithea and Edelgard with her because they all have crest secrets.

 

Mercedes-Voiced by Dorothy Fahn.  A major sweetheart and Annette’s best friend.  If recruited into the Black Eagles in Three Hopes, she will keep Annette and possibly her father alive when you confront them.  She has a strong maternal sense, which extends to her brother, Jeritza, who is the Death Knight in Edelgard’s employ to help end the war swiftly.  I am partially tempted to play Three Houses’ Crimson Flowers a third time with her on my team because she is kind, especially to Jeritza and Annette.

 

Sakura-Voiced by Brianna Knickerbocker (one of the easiest names in voice acting to remember), who also has a singing career and has sung in-character as Hu Tao, her character from Genshin Impact.  Sakura is an easily-scared, shy white mage who relies on her bonds with her sisters Hinoka and Corrin for bravery.  In the Valla route, she becomes friends with her Nohr counterpart, Elise, as both play instruments, Sakura the koto and Elise the violin.  She is my favorite character in Fates.

 

Dorothea-Voiced by Allegra Clark, who also voices Shamir in the game.  Dorothea has interests in men and women openly, considering relationships with Ferdinand, Edelgard and Petra.  She follows in Manuela’s footsteps to be an opera singer and likes helping Edelgard more than she dislikes the war.  She has a teasing side to her, making Caspar call her “Big Sis,” then saying “I wouldn’t mind that at all, Big Bro!” when Caspar asks how she’d feel if he made her call him that.

    Someone on BlueSky made a Fire Emblem Mage Tierlist and I decided to get involved.  I feel the need to post explanations for my tier choices, so I'll be doing that here.  These are just based on personal feelings/experiences.

Explaining my Fire Emblem Mage Tier List,

SS-Would want them as a best friend

S-They feel like the friend of a friend or family member

A-Second-tier friend

B-Okay

C-I’ll probably end up ignoring you, but you’re all right.

D-Ummm…

E-These guys never helped me or the characters I liked

 

SS characters:

Miriel-The original “witch librarian,” before Lisa from Genshin Impact, though Miriel is more studious and Lisa’s more flirtatious and may have a relationship with her boss, Jean.  It helps that Miriel is voiced by Tara Platt, but I liked her before I knew that, simply because she was a bookish mage who could handle herself in battle and was one of the most competent units in Awakening.

 

Edelgard-Also voiced by Tara Platt, I liked her as soon as I heard that familiar Mitsuru and Kali Belladonna voice in the Black Eagles trailer.  Tara’s good at projecting being in charge, but with Edelgard, she gives a whole new dimension of the depression and outrage Edelgard feels over having her childhood ruined by Thales and the apathy Rhea gave.  It makes her cute moments with Byleth, Petra, Dorothea and Ferdinand all the more enjoyable.

 

Annette-Voiced by goofball Abby Trott (if you’ve seen her photos on her Twitter account, you understand).  Annette creates an atmosphere it’s hard to be sad or mad in, instead replacing it with hope and desire to go forward and finish the job.  She’s also got an amazing critical hit rate and is adorable with Caspar, Lysithea and presumably also Felix, since that seems to be Abby’s favorite.

 

Lysithea-I don’t know the name of her voice actress.  Lysithea ends up one of Edelgard’s friends if you recruit her, discussing having two crests (both were forced to have this by Those Who Slither In The Dark) and fighting for a better future.  She also has a competition with Annette over who can improve their magic, and defends Marianne as both have crest secrets.  While she’s rough around the edges, she is very loyal and protective and is someone you want in your corner.

 

Manuela-Voiced by Veronica Taylor (Ash and his Mom in Pokémon, no, I’m not kidding), Manuela gives Edelgard insight into the mindsets of religious people, gets hungover at times (requiring Edelgard, Byleth or others to clean up the mess) and is a classic opera singer.  She, Annette and Dorothea ask if it is possible to sing to end war if you have them all recruited.

 

Hanneman-I don’t know his voice actor.  Like Lysithea, he has conversations with both Edelgard and Annette, Annette about her being studious, Edelgard about how the world they live in is like the Dr. Seuss book “The Sneetches” and they would ideally invent a crest-off/crest-on machine to get their society to the end of the book.

 

Ricken-Voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.  You follow Tara Platt long enough on Twitter, you know she loves that man more than life itself.  Not hard to see why, he’s intelligent, knows when to speak out and to be silent and is the best partner a woman could ask for.  He fights for all the right causes that make sense, too.  If I were to start Awakening again, this guy would be Miriel’s husband, because it’s nerd tradition.

 

Hapi-I don’t know her voice actress.  Part of Edelgard’s Three Hopes paralogue, which is really fun to play and helps let out some frustrations you take on fighting alongside her against Those Who Slither In The Dark.  Also has silly-cute nicknames for everyone on base, like “Bernie-Bee” for Bernadetta, “Eddy and The Bert” for Edelgard and Hubert, “Lys” for Lysithea and “Shammie” for Shamir.

 

Citrinne-Voiced by Brittney Karbowski, sounds a little like Camie from My Hero Academia and not much like Wendy Marvell.  Part of the extended Brodian Royal Family, Citrinne is capable with magic, but because I partnered her with Tiki, she spent a good portion of the game turning into a dragon for part of the fights (similarly, Brittney’s character, Wendy, was raised by dragons in Fairy Tail).  She interrogates Yunaka about herself, only to find her the victim of a tragic past, and sees Merrin as cool, even though Merrin is embarrassed by her interest in animals.  Bad experiences with past friends have led Citrinne to believe she must be extravagant when giving gifts, but Alear and Veyle tell her otherwise.

 

Veyle-voiced by Megan T. Harvey.  Alear (the protagonist of Engage)’s little sister, Veyle is used and abused by their father, Sombron the Fell Dragon, to further his plans to gather the Emblems, create zombies and ruin the land.  However, Veyle truly desires a compassionate family and Alear helps her escape Sombron and join her team.  I usually pair Lucina with Veyle as a counterpart to pairing Marth with Alear, and have the two of them swordfight their enemies.  Veyle is also potent at magic and it was a joy to see the sisters bond.

 

Micaiah-voiced by Veronica Taylor.  I have not yet played Radiant Dawn, but Micaiah is a good friend in Engage, helping Yunaka join the heroes.  I like that Veronica Taylor voices her, because she uses her “Ash’s Mom” voice from Pokémon which makes Micaiah come off motherly and caring.  She helps you move forward gently and, in Heroes, uses powerful magic to defeat opponents while coming off as a genuinely kind character.

 

Pandreo-I sadly do not know his voice actor.  The brother you wish you had.  Pandreo is a priest in the Divine Dragon’s Church in Engage and helps Veyle accept herself being a Fell Dragon.  He also puts on great parties where he and others howl.  His sister is the axe-wielding Panette, a retainer to Princess Timerra, who speaks politely around Timerra and most others but has an original “unlearned” style of speech.  The bro-priest we all want but sadly can’t have because he’s not real.

How I really feel

     Okay, I don't actually want the Mariners gone, I just wonder at times like these if moving the team would solve all their problems; the Mythbusters found it was possible for humidity to affect home run average.  The talent is clearly there, they can score 10 runs in a game, the issue is making that happen more often.  I do want to start distancing myself from this season more, I had a lot of hopes riding on it and it doesn't seem likely they'll happen.

 

    I keep almost-vomiting in my sleep.  I should probably see the Doctor about that.  I just got what seems to be just water and stomach juice up my nose.

 

    I still have issues over Michael Sweet, Oz Fox, John L. Cooper and now, it seems, Billy Ray Cyrus thinking extremism and mass censorship of a violent theocracy is necessary for America.  You don't know how angry it makes me to see Miley and Noah's dad giving a thumb's up next to the apparent antichrist, just like Lauren Boebert.  It's like he doesn't care that his daughter is pansexual and gender-fluid or that the other daughter suffers depression or that they both signed "Bans off our Bodies" in preparation to the Dobbs ruling.  I wish I could understand what makes a person think these things, does he truly just see a politician after all this, is he taking pity on him due to the gunman or does he genuinely think this bloodthirsty plan that punishes the weak and executes the powerless is "patriotic" and "Christian?"  It's things like that last one that make me think we shouldn't celebrate Veteran's Day or Memorial Day.

 

    I am going stir-crazy not being able to post Furina clips from Genshin Impact.  I have seen a ton and they reflect my sense of humor and parts of my life, even (Furina only cooks macaroni and sauce after no longer being an archon, I mostly stick with cheese and beef sausage sandwiches).  I also want to share some clips to Facebook as I recently found out Furina's voice actress, Amber Lee Connors, is also Brandish in Fairy Tail, a show my cousin and I love.  But she's hoping the makers of Genshin Impact will not duplicate her voice and use it for their own purposes, not to mention the people recording her voice off the game to make duplicates so they can do things that should be illegal, but Congress has stalled in providing protection.  Much as I love Three Houses and would love an Edelgard-Annette CBA Support Conversation, I want it written by professionals and spoken by Tara and Abby themselves, not some illicit nerd who downloaded a program that makes him think he's some kind of god.

Sell the team to New Orleans

     I can't get this anger out of my head, so I'm writing it down here.  You know the real reason why I think the Mariners haven't gotten to the World Series and will never as long as they call Seattle home?  IT IS BECAUSE THEY CALL SEATTLE HOME.  Seattle is a cursed Sports City that isn't meant to be a sports city, it is the laughingstock and easy win of the sports world.  It lost the Pilots, it lost the Sonics, Kurt Cobain shot himself and Chris Cornell hung himself.  So now my rallying cry about the Mariners is "Sell the team to New Orleans," because I've read online Seattle doesn't want them anymore.  I bet the first season in the Big Easy, they win the World Series in 4 games.  Seattle doesn't want them, they're the laughingstock of the MLB, even the White Sox have a brighter future than the dumbass Mariners do.  Sell the fucking team to New Orleans and get them out of my sight for good!

Positives

     I don't want people to think my life is just an endless hole of depression, so I'm going to list some positive things that happened this year.

-I've been going to Church more often

-I've got a new album of baseball cards and have been buying cards of my favorite players/new Mariners acquisitions off Amazon, filling it up with cards new and old of great players and personal favorites

-I recruited Byleth in Fire Emblem Warriors; Three Hopes, and can now put her with Edelgard all the time

-I saw 3 Mariners games and they won all of them, against tough teams, too (Braves, Royals, Phillies)

-I saw a Tom Petty/Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks tribute concert and a Classic Rock/Ozzy Osbourne tribute concert

-I have tickets to Experience Hendrix, where guitarists like Zakk Wylde play their favorite Jimi Hendrix songs, Judas Priest and a Halloween Hullabaloo where Halestorm and Godsmack will be appearing (I only know one song by the headliner from when people combined Heavy Metal with Godzilla film clips)

-I got The Singularity by Bear McCreary, Miley Cyrus' releases, Judas Priest and Ariana Grande's albums, a collaboration between Carrie Underwood and Papa Roach, the Artimus Pyle Band with Sammy Hagar, Lindsey Ell and Billy Ray Cyrus (whatever his political views may be, it's a darn good song) and recently got a CD of Ringo Starr's 1981 album "Stop and Smell the Roses," which had Paul, George, Ronnie Wood and Harry Nilsson contributing.  John would've contributed, as well.  There are other tracks I'm glad I got, like Slash with Paul Rodgers, Slash with Demi Lovato, Paramore's "Burning Down The House," Halestorm's Live "I Am The Fire" and BabyMetal with Electric Callboy.  I also got a recording of Van Halen in the Tokyo Dome in 1989 from Amazon.

 -I've been budgeting food better and starving less.

 -I've been finding great rock clips and kaiju clips on YouTube

-I've been relatively happy on BlueSky, posting whatever I want within reason and getting occasional feedback.

-I still check in on Tara Platt and Abby Trott on Twitter, though I don't talk to them.  Abby is going to play "Shelly the Shelf" in a game called "Date Everything" that Robbie Daymond is making.  I'm hoping there's a Switch port, it sounds insane, yet heartwarming.

-I found loads of videos of Furina from Genshin Impact, as well as Jean and Lisa from the same game.  But I can't share them out of respect to the SAG strike, which is a shame, they are enlightening, cute and uplifting.  I've been trying to fill the void on BlueSky with Three Houses, Fairy Tail and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but it's just not the same, though I do really like Edelgard, Annette, Lysithea, Marianne, Mercedes, Erza and Kiria. 

-I've made my plans for 2025's hockey and MLB games, 1/30 Kraken vs. Sharks and 6/3 or 6/4 Mariners vs. Orioles and 9/26 Mariners vs. Dodgers.  Promotions may change it slightly.

-I hope to get The Legend of Zelda; Echoes of Wisdom and Fairy Tail 2 for the Switch before the year is out.

-I already bought Godzilla Minus One on iTunes and the DVD of Godzilla X Kong; The New Empire.

Burnt out

     I cannot take the stupid I am seeing on Social Media anymore, nor are my attempts to deal with it by posting something positive satisfactory.  All I feel is that loads of people are going to curse Christianity because of Trump or get enamored with the beast because of the media or their puny minds.  When the 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade happened, the pain Tara Platt and Abby Trott made visible on their Twitters was so large I was ready to kill for them.  I did everything as right as I thought I could to both their characters in Three Hopes last night, yet still feel guilty and that I might've killed Annette.  Billy Ray Cyrus took a photo of himself and Satan incarnate quoting "Some Gave All," which says (while he may not think this) he's going to vote to get his daughters imprisoned or raped and forced to carry and raise the parasite and it'll be "their fault."  I can't share Genshin Impact videos or pictures because of the SAG strike against video games, in fact, the only "safe" games I can share are Nintendo games.  I can't take this anymore and wish the beast incarnate would just be in prison or die already so we can start getting back to normal, but only good people are going to suffer.

Stressed out, still

     My constant mood is stressed out now and I hate it.  I can't take this constant whirlwind of attention-grabbing stuff trying to grab my wallet and my time at all times right now.  They shut down my Medicare and Medicaid and sent me to Regent, which charged me $400 for a premium, so now I'm likely in debt for the rest of the month, and I don't fully understand why.  There is a large cult that has taken over mainstream Christianity that worships Donald Trump and makes me feel incapable and that everyone will curse Jesus' name soon, especially if the election doesn't go well.  I feel like I can trust almost no one and that the world would just rob me and beat me and expose all my bad points in front of those who would judge me most harshly just to ensure I lose friends/acquaintances.  I spend every day trying to entertain myself and it's barely working and I just want to cry.
