 Here are my predictions of how Adam Wingard is going to ruin the Monsterverse and turn it into a Kong lovefest:

Godzilla x Kong plot;

               Unusual seismic activity occurs in the Hollow Earth.  MONARCH discovers that an ancient alien Titan, AstroGodzilla, who absorbed Godzilla genetics upon arriving on Earth, has awakened.  He also has a significant portion of the Kong race trapped in another dimension inside his wing-like protrusions on his back.  Kong battles him, but loses and AstroGodzilla makes for the surface.  He obliterates Shanghai and turns the ruins to ice, then heads to Kyushu.  Godzilla attacks, only to be easily overpowered and significantly wounded.  Kong shows up and the two kill AstroGodzilla and free the Kongs, there is now one per country.  Outraged that his ancient nemesis now runs the planet, Godzilla attacks Kong, only to be overpowered easily again, a jagged scar left on his chest and stomach.  Enraged, he destroys Fukuoka before returning to the sea.

Kong; the TRUE King plot;

               After defeating AstroGodzilla and restoring the Kong empire, the Kongs are welcomed into the UN.  Jealous that the Kongs now defend humanity, Godzilla and Mothra awaken Bagan to attack the Kong Empire.  Behemoth, Scylla and Kong fight the three in a climatic duel in Los Angeles that destroys the city and incinerates Mothra.  Behemoth impales Bagan, enabling Kong to snap his neck.  Godzilla, now with his throne lost with no respect, challenges the three to preserve his title.  The three issue a savage beatdown on the once King of the Monsters, Kong snapping Godzilla’s jaw and spine, tossing his mangled corpse into the ocean, where it splits in half, never to be seen again.  Now man’s sole, rightful protector, Kong beats his chest triumphantly as Behemoth and Scylla bow in respect.

               Does anyone else feel like this?  That you can write better sagas, crossovers and stories involving your favorite entertainment franchises that will make you happier than whatever is actually going to be released and become canon?  And as such, you no longer feel like you need the film industry or television or video games because you can make your own stories with those characters that make you happier than whatever they are going to actually make.  I could write plot summaries/treatments for every cinematic universe I ever cared for and headcanons for every video game I play and it would likely make me happier than spending money on the industries and watch them gut my favorite characters in the pursuit of profits.  Not much is really living up to the hype outside of music.

               Speaking of, this week Brandi Carlile released a great rendition of “Home” from the musical “The Wiz.”  Demi Lovato has a rock rendition of “Cool for the Summer” I need to check out and coming up tonight is the debut album by Elegant Weapons, who feature Richie Faulkner (Judas Priest) on guitar and Ronnie Romero (Lords of Black, Rainbow, Michael Schenker, solo career) on vocals.  Their single “Do or Die” has already gotten 10 plays in my iTunes, so this should be good.

               I feel I need to say something about the passing of Tina Turner yesterday.  I admit, I didn’t have much of her music, just her cover of “Come Together” which caught my attention by being on the Cruella soundtrack, but it was a well-down rendition.  I also have a version of “Nutbush City Limits” by Inglorious from their Heroine album, where they also covered Miley Cyrus, Evanescence, Joan Jett, Whitney Houston and Halestorm.  Bob Seger also covered “Nutbush City Limits” back when it was new.  Tina Turner was one of a kind, strong, enduring and with an energy to music that will continue to exist though she’s gone.  We will miss her being the one who brings that energy.

Good music last week and Smash headcanon

 My favorite music of last week was “Torn into Lies” by Joel Hoekstra’s 13, “Dear Insecurity” by Brandy Clark and Brandi Carlile, “Ain’t Enough Rocks” by Brandy Clark and Derek Trucks, “Under You” by Foo Fighters and “When Love and Hate Collide” by Def Leppard and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Now for some Nintendo/Smash Bros. headcanon to explain some things in my screenshots that I think people aren’t understanding;

-Samus and Zelda are a married lesbian couple, they wed in 2012 in Marrymore while the Brawl event was still going on.

-After Tabuu appeared in 2008, most of these are just sparring matches to keep them in shape in case another threat emerges.

-Byleth convinced Annette to join the Black Eagles while at Garreg Mach.  Her and Edelgard’s mutual enjoyment of sweets made them close, as well as spending tons of time with Byleth during the war, who relied on them to deal with the emotional strain of conflict.

-Desiring to make everyone believe he’s the best at this, Bowser arranged a team of himself and WWE wrestlers Roman Reigns and Bayley.  The three have yet to lose a match.

-Bowser has a begrudging respect for Mario and Luigi due to their tenacity and bravery.  He cannot stand Wario, however, as he considers him slovenly, smelly and obnoxious.

-Samus is outraged Ridley was allowed to join Smash, believing she killed him for good defending Zelda by impaling him with a steel cross from atop a steeple.  It was their last battle before their wedding.

-Ganondorf, Ridley, Dark Samus, Sephiroth and Kazuya have all allied to challenge Samus and Zelda whenever possible.  To this end, Edelgard, Byleth, Annette and Tifa have agreed to help Samus and Zelda anytime the group challenges to make the battle even by the rules of Smash.

5/18/2023

 After rest and a birthday, I must admit, I don’t hate Twitter, I’m just scared and confused by adulthood.  I’m not sure what to do, I feel I sabotaged my therapy over 10 years ago by acting more ready for the world than I was.  My Dad’s family has problems with addictive behavior, gambling, alcoholism and the like, and mine seems to be the internet because of my loneliness in this apartment where it seems few, if any, share my values.  This causes me to hate it because I don’t have control over it like other things in life.  However, I don’t want to give it up because Twitter has nice people such as Tara Platt, Jeannie Tirado, Sarah McKnight, Abby Trott, Laura Post, Laura Bailey and Matthew Mercer, as well as music news and Facebook has my family.  Honestly, I wish I could find something outside the old websites I've been checking for over a decade now, aside from those two, most are falling into a state where opinions are ruled by angry, snobbish people or children who seem too young to use the internet.  Toho Kingdom is a shadow of what it used to be, as are most places that aren’t social media pages, and I miss the identity of websites that weren’t Facebook or Twitter pages that were someone’s self-made fan-site of their favorite subject with loads of trivia and information.

My favorite music released last week was Dolly Parton’s “World on fire,” (the album feels like a dream come true with Miley Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Rob Halford, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington and Artimus Pyle all guest-starring) Duff McKagan’s “This Is The Song” and Cristina Vee’s cover of Jack Black’s “Peaches.”  BabyMetal also had a couple good acoustic tracks.  This week’s “Torn into Lies” by Joel Hoekstra’s 13 is so far my favorite track, followed by Def Leppard’s orchestral rendition of “When Love and Hate Collide,” though both were technically released on my Birthday, so that influenced matters.  The song I’m looking forward to the most tonight is Brandy Clark’s “Dear Insecurity” with Brandi Carlile, both are named Brandy/I, are from Western Washington, and are lesbians, though Brandi is married to Catherine Shepard.  Brandi apparently produced the album, so I’ll have to listen to the whole thing, but their last duet was one of my favorite songs of 2020.  Neal Schon is also releasing an album with Marco Mendoza, Deen Castronovo and Gregg Rolie, where they perform Journey classics, obscure songs and even some Santana tracks, which I’m also looking forward to.  I’m also planning on checking out Kesha, Alcatrazz and Sweet and Lynch, since they have all made good music in the past, Sweet and Lynch making a good Hard Rock track this year, Michael Sweet can still be a good songwriter if he doesn’t let his politics take over the message, and this one was a good example of that.

Today is one of my faorite keyboardists, Rick Wakeman’s, Birthday.  I would be remiss, though, if I didn’t mention this is the 6th anniversary of when Seattle-based grunge legend Chris Cornell took his own life.  Back then, I was only beginning to know who he was.  6 years and now somewhat cleansed of the trauma of 2016-2021, I can actually mourn him and Rachel Held Evans.  Neither took any garbage from the mentality of the people of then, Cornell through sarcasm, loud music and managing to fit in and befriend Alice Cooper, Slash, Johnny Cash and possibly Billy Ray Cyrus, he apparently brought Toni to the Hannah Montana set while the show was going on and Billy Ray mourned his death.  He could be loud and raucous or soft, vulnerable and poignant.  My only guess is the alcohol made his demons of fear about the Trump administration and that it’d be permanent override his ability to fight it and he could not take it.  Such fears plague me from time to time, even now, because he won’t go away and our country hasn’t proved itself to be intelligent enough to repeatedly make the right choices.  Somedays, the only thing that helps is some goal in the future you hope to meet, meet a voice actor/actress at a con, a new album/song/video game, the hope of Temari getting a Funko Pop, baseball games, concerts, family get-togethers, something like that.  That’s honestly why I spend and pre-order so much, it reminds me there is a future to aim for.  And it’s always a future worth reaching.
