An idea from Dad I took as a challenge

 

Dad gave me a suggestion for a new playlist, one to ring in 2025.  I took it as a bit of a challenge and made a playlist based on music that will be celebrating anniversaries in 2025.  It could be changed with anniversaries from 1965 and 1980, but the past couple years have worn me out remembering so many dates that are a X0 or X5 from the current year.  There is one concert due to its profound effect on me (I got to sit in the front row), as well as a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert from Cardiff released officially and a Skynyrd song to reference their show at Winterland, but most of these are album releases by date from 1975 and 2015.

Favorite Songs of 2024 and current issues

     Right now, my biggest problem is getting caught in catastrophic thinking from emails or news stories.  I also am feeling the weight of responsibility to try to make things better, posting videos, writing the right things, trying to come to terms with my feelings and the fact that I've put too many people and things on pedestals and believed they were incapable of sin.  I feel like Frodo in the Rankin-Bass "Return of the King" movie, bearing a heavy load, losing hold of sanity, sometimes doing things I hate to try to cope with it all.  I'd really rather not get into that.  All I can say is, if they arrest me, I'll be singing "Yellow Submarine," "Now and Then," "Flowers" and "Don't Dream It's Over" until they rip my larynx out.

 

    Anyway, here's my favorite music of this year.  We had some really good ones, but it seems most of the songs I liked were old live releases/vault releases and covers, which may indicate that I'm getting old and not fond of "that there new music."  Still, there were a lot of great originals from Ariana Grande, Judas Priest, Amy Jo Johnson (the original Pink Ranger on Power Rangers), Linkin Park and Bear McCreary.
