7/12 thoughts and 7/14/2023 releases

Playing Trails into Reverie and my MP3s made me happy today, though, as did the idea I’m going to get my Tara Platt (TWA Stewardess) Pop after my trip to Seattle/Tacoma to see Rochelle, Ann and the M’s play the Blue Jays.  I just realized I don’t have Zyrtec, or likely, the money to buy it.  I may need to tough it out, seeing that game is too important to me, as is finding out why Rochelle’s visiting.  It’s harder to recommend films that aren’t on streaming services these days, in the last 5 years, there have been a lot more streaming services and all of them have almost every movie I can think of between them.  Jeff Bezos may mistreat his employees, but it’s honestly easier to build a DVDs collection from Amazon than pay for 4 streaming services a month to see all the good movies.  You’d need at least Netflix, Max, Disney+ and Paramount+ to cover all the ones I’d want to see in a month, probably also Funimation and Crunchyroll, also that Pluto thing.  Just waiting on my Evangelion DVDs now, I’m hoping it has the dub with Colleen Clinkenbeard on it, she sometimes replies to me on Twitter and plays anime badass Erza Scarlet/Elsie Crimson.  She and Tara Platt even indulged me when I participated in a tweet meme saying the 2 fictional characters I’d like to interact would be Erza Scarlet and Edelgard, adding “I’d even settle for Colleen Clinkenbeard and Tara Platt having a conversation.”

The best music releases of the last month have been Take Me Out by Carrie Underwood, Crash of Life by Joel Hoekstra’s 13, Bygones by Dolly Parton and Rob Halford (there was also a release of Magic Man by Dolly Parton and Ann Wilson that was really good), a live 1974 performance of Superstition by Beck, Bogert and Appice, Feed the Beast by Kim Petras, T-Rex by K.Flay, a live EP by Grace McKagan, 2nd 3rd Secret by 3rd Secret (a supergroup with Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic), Dramatic by Idina Menzel, Take a Bow by Mammoth WVH, Rescued, The Glass, Show Me How and Rest by Foo Fighters and Through the Noise by Nita Strauss and Lzzy Hale.  Tomorrow night will come a new album by Rita Ora and a new rock version of “Sorry Not Sorry” by Demi Lovato featuring Slash, I wonder if all these rock re-recordings are leading to a full album.
