What Twitter should know but likely won't care to read

I get bent out of shape when I see Edelgard trend on Twitter, because all I can think of are the aggressive, single-minded Blue Lions "stans" who will be arguing for her to be stricken from canon and made the true villain because they enjoyed killing the Hegemon Husk at the end of their route.  I know arguing with them is as futile as any political debate, but I want people to hear me out.

I am a Christian man, have been one most of my life.  In 2008 I saw a performance of "The Laramie Project" about the murder of Matthew Shepard.  Not one Christian in the play spoke for him, all saying "he got what he deserved."  That didn't sit right with me, so I became an LGBTQ+ rights advocate.  I endured having to play the "good young man" for several right wingers who felt America was BC-Israel for the next several years, saying God was punishing our nation with natural disasters and Satan was behind the Democrat Party.  This tension and trauma was mirrored in Rhea's comments about the young man who took the holy spear.  I've wanted nothing to do with this mentality for almost ten years, which has been hard with the politics in that time.

So, for me, Edelgard is a calm-voiced wall who keeps politics and religion separate, so we can operate in a global community without a superiority complex or risk losing the melting pot in both fiction and reality, a reminder that it takes all kinds to make a house a home, not single-minded loyalty by saying all the right things.  She is determined, calming and kind and got me through my worst.  Think about that before you trash her next time.

Feeling Better

Part of my recent problems are that my toilet's flushing mechanism was broken this past weekend, so in addition to yesterday being the earliest they could fix it, I also have issues with the fact that a couple times the repairmen in my apartment blamed me for things that weren't my fault in my plumbing.  That didn't happen this time and everything is fine with the toilet now, but I need to decrease my Facebook usage because aside from family, BabyMetal and Brandi Carlile, I'm getting paranoid, irritated and unhappy there.  I posted a lot to BlueSky yesterday despite not thinking I would, mostly since it was voice actress/professional DNDer Laura Bailey and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty's Birthday yesterday.  I also posted videos of baseball from last year I recently found on YouTube; Julio's Home Run Derby performance, Bo Bichette's All-Star Game RBI sacrifice fly and Trea Turner's tremendous August.  Though I didn't get a ton of likes, it felt good to post, like custom-painting a wall.  The hardest thing right now is thinking about the tough paths to getting Berengaria and Amalia on the same team in Unicorn Overlord and getting Edelgard, Shez and Byleth on the same team in Fire Emblem Warriors; Three Hopes.  I know I can do it, it's just not going to be easy and at times, not going to be fun, either.

Since May is drawing to a close, I thought I'd share my updated "Favorites of 2024" playlist.  It's different on Spotify, it doesn't have the Zakk Sabbath tracks, because Zakk Wylde prefers that music be released physically only just like classic Black Sabbath was.

The Bon Jovi and Black Country Communion albums are going to be released the first two weeks of June, and look thus far to be good releases.  Beyond that aren't many things that have been announced on my radar, there's a deluxe edition of Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge with previously unreleased live tracks, but I always feel weird putting old live tracks in playlists like this in deluxe albums unless they come from bands like The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix.  It's probably going to depend on how the other live tracks fare, they've only released "Poundcake" so far, which I'm very familiar with, having heard it live by Sammy Hagar and The Circle and owning an MP3 of them performing it live at the previous show.  The remaining concerts for this year so far are a Pride Anthems at the Mt. Baker Theater in June and an Experience Hendrix with Zakk Wylde and other great guitarists at Seattle's Paramount in September.  I am considering seeing Joanne Shaw Taylor at the Neptune in November, but it's just before Election Day and I don't want to think about that at all.  Other plans are Washington State Summer Con in June, the Reno Aces at the Tacoma Rainiers in July and the Philadelphia Phillies at the Seattle Mariners in August.

Here is also my playlist for June, my Pride Month playlist for 2024.  I only found out Monday Brandi Carlile covered "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen.
