I apologize for my last post. I just needed to let all that pain out. There is a lot of rage right now and because I want to stay connected, I’m absorbing a lot of it. SAG is getting punished by 7 AI-happy companies, one of whom is Hoyoverse, meaning I probably won’t be able to bring my Edelgard and Annette plushies to WA State Summer Con next month. AI is making a lot of artists nervous and irate because it can destroy their livelihood, and I’ve pretty much had to stop reading email or going to Facebook due to how people write these politics and the mindless assault on Gaza, with the rage that hits as hard as my last post. I honestly get the feeling that rage is what the other users on BlueSky want, absolute fury that demands blood. I do not want to partake in violence and I feel upset that I had to promote it to get the rage out of my system.
Honestly, I do not trust my country anymore. I believe the 31% approval rating is wrong and it is closer to 80%. Homophobia and Transphobia is systemic, there are whole industries in entertainment that silence LGBTQ+ people or call them “wrong” or otherwise sweep them under the rug. LGBTQ+ representation in video games, film and shows is met with aggressive resistance and poor box office. Many claim Yang and Blake’s relationship was too fast even though it had been set up many years in advance and had been such a slow burn that if it were any slower, it’d be going backwards. Edelgard is the least-liked house leader in Three Houses in the United States and Nintendo has forced her fandom to relive the pain of the Hegemon Husk in Heroes, as well as treat Dimitri with preference. Tara was also not interviewed in their “Castle Conversations” series. And all of this is normalized and reinforced by massive industries. Country Music endorses the racist Morgan Wallen while the Brothers Osborne (with a gay lead singer) are ignored. I honestly think Trump won because the United States as a whole wanted to shut down the rise of LGBTQ+ people and force them back into the closet. How many shows use the “there’s something wrong with him” if the man in question does not want the curvaceous woman advertised? How many people say “every man” or “every woman” in regards to something related to the opposite sex? This was just inevitable and will not be stopped with pills or anything other than mass murder. I’m not endorsing it, but as I see it, that is our only way out.
