Too Close To Home

If you follow me on either Facebook or DeviantArt, you've seen me bring back this old image from four years ago:

The Baseball player at bat is Tommy Pham, then of the St. Louis Cardinals, playing in the Seattle Mariners' annual "Turn Back the Clock Game" to 1984.

And he was stabbed today, 10/12/2020.

He's currently in recovery at SDU and the SDPD is investigating the crime, so I can't point a finger of blame, but I can give three speculations.  1-Racism.  2-Political Motivations, which is the same as racism, only with the subtext of "the current President says it's okay/will pardon me" or "I have to show these n*****s whose country this is."  3-Fanaticism, which would be a crazed fan who expected the Padres to win it all and decided to take it out on a key acquisition or a fan of an opposing team with pent-up aggression, like the Yankees fan who threw a knife at Wally Joyner during his rookie season.

Regardless, this is unacceptable behavior, especially now and especially here.  I pray Tommy Pham makes a full recovery, the culprit is brought to justice and our nation heals from how malevolent our people are making it.  Politicians can be heartless, but ultimately, it is the American people who are responsible for the America we live in.
