Favorite music 5/22/2023-5/26/2023
- “Home” by Brandi Carlile
-Elegant Weapons debut album (especially “Do or Die,” “Lights Out,” “Bitter Pill” and “White Horse”)
- “Show Me How” by Foo Fighters
Music I’m looking forward to this week:
-Tanya Tucker’s new album, produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings. Carlile and Tucker duet on a song and another is a cover of a Brandi Carlile song.
-A new album by Foo Fighters, it’s the first since Taylor Hawkins died. The three singles show a band determined to carry on in spite of such a great loss and showcase them doing what they do best.
-Black Sabbath’s “Live Evil” deluxe edition. A live album with Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice, also their first legal live album (a popular bootleg from 1973 was released as part of a legal live album later). It has tracks recorded in Seattle and Ronnie singing Ozzy songs, sometimes doing them well, other times missing a mark for some.
-A Joan Jett EP, she released a good new track in the last couple weeks and it’s always nice to hear her sing and rock out.

Please be kind to your LGBTQ+ neighbors. State governments are pressing hard to wipe them out in what could be a template for our whole Nation. Britain has fallen down in its ally status, Japan doesn’t have legalized marriages except in some districts, and transgender people in the US comment it feels like 1929 Germany, not long before Hitler took over and blamed minorities for his country’s problems that he set up an economy of murder, wiping them out and hiring many solely to abuse the minorities; Jewish People, Afro-Germans and the LGBTQ+ community, who he made singled out by forcing them to wear pink triangles, which is why they’re on some Pride flags. Never again, especially not here, which brags and boasts of freedom and Nazi-slaying. America may not be the greatest nation on Earth, but it’s my home and I love it, I love living in a country where Soundgarden, Guns N Roses, Don Felder, Sammy Hagar, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joel Hoekstra’s 13, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimi Hendrix, Geoff Tate and Miley Cyrus belong to it. I love Major League Baseball. I love the movies this country can create, sometimes with outside help, like Star Wars, The Lost World; Jurassic Park, Jurassic World; Dominion, Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, The Little Mermaid, Frozen 1 and 2, Wreck-it Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet, Aquaman, Like A Country Song, The Shack, The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Godzilla; King of the Monsters. I am a patriot, but Republican politicians and those who obsess over them think that means something that is not me. We must stand up, protest and vote wisely, or the only option to retain all that is to break this country apart.
