I felt I needed a post today so it wasn't just straight from one music release Thursday to another.
So first off, I have to say Demi Lovato's album rules and at least rivals Carrie Underwood's for the best album thus far this year. My favorite track is "Easy," the duet with Noah Cyrus, because I feel it defines depression in our society. People don't like the uncomfortability of someone else showing emotion, crying and being sad, so when hardship happens, or uncertainty, or any one of innumerable pains, we have to pretend it doesn't bother us. We have to "make it look easy." And since both artists have released songs that suggest they have clinical depression, this was simultaneously a blow of painful memories to the heart and a refreshing hug that I'm not the only one in society who deals with pretending that immense pains don't bother me day after day. Last month, I pretty much used this blog to just weep, but thankfully, I read Godzilla vs. Kong has a satisfying end for fans of both monsters and Rooster Teeth didn't kill the Bumbleby relationship, though what they did they realized was so dark they gave people who watched the episode the number to the suicide hotline. I personally just hope we don't spend all of Season 9 regrouping the team or that the first two episodes have nothing to do with them, but I know I can live through that.
I decided also to list (since most of my favorite Switch games/the ones I've beaten let you play as multiple characters) my favorite characters for my favorite Switch games:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Bowser, Zero Suit Samus, Zelda, Lucina, Palutena, Richter, Mii Brawler (Yang Xiao Long, Roman Reigns, Bayley, Tifa Lockhart), Mii Gunner (Elsa, Melony, Jill Valentine), Mii Swordfighter (Blake Belladonna, Erza Scarlet), Byleth (Edelgard color change), Pyra/Mythra
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle: Yang Xiao Long, Blake Belladonna, Mitsuru Kirijo, Chie Satonaka, Yukiko Amagi, Neo Politan, Yumi from Senran Kagura
Fire Emblem; Three Houses: Edelgard, Petra, Dorothea, Shamir, Bernadetta, Leonie, Lysithea, Byleth
Pokémon Shield: Sonia, Nessa, Melony
Fairy Tail: Erza Scarlet, Wendy Marvell, Mirajane Strauss, Kagura Mikazuchi
Hyrule Warriors; Age of Calamity: Zelda, Urbosa, Riju, Impa, Purah
Persona 5 Strikers: Joker, Ann, Makoto, Sophia, Yusuke, Haru
RWBY Grimm Eclipse: Probably Yang Xiao Long, Blake Belladonna and Nora Valkyrie
Finally, I want to share something interesting I found out about Persona 5 yesterday and thoughts on a recent article of clothing that's gotten "meme famous."
Makoto’s Persona is a possibly real, but probably not, woman
Pope, Pope Joan. This is the only time
I’ve ever seen a religious figure as a motorcycle. I have seen a religious figure (Enoch from
the book of Genesis) on a motorcycle in the game “El Shaddai; Ascension of the
Metatron,” based on the apocryphal Book of Enoch. The not-yet-fallen Lucifel gives it to you,
and also talks to God on a cell phone and uses an umbrella while you use holy
weapons to fight Nephilim. Apparently,
some angels and humans want to control their own evolution by interbreeding. Makoto's "Showtime" attack involves doing Donuts with Johanna to build up speed, leaping into the air, then crashing down, fist-first, while screaming "FIST OF JUSTICE!" creating a small, possibly sub-atomic, explosion.
And finally, whoever is claiming those pentagram shoes are “satanic” has
clearly never seen the NCIS episode with the pentagram hubcap that got rubbed
onto the corpse of the officer the maniac disemboweled looking for the wedding
ring made from material that turns flesh green.
At least not to the extent I obviously have. Also pentagrams like that are often seen in
Buddhism (only without a circle around it), and I bet they’d like to not be
associated with a fallen angel who betrayed God. It's just typical mainstream "edginess" with nothing actually evil on it, just something that looks evil, like Anthrax album covers.
