Music updates for 9/9/2022

Hi, all.  I have to confess, I haven't been keeping up with new music this week since I'm still a bit worn out from last week's concert and I'm going to the Mariners game tomorrow, which will be another all-day trip.  I can tell you that I listened to some singles from last week I really enjoyed, namely, The Dead Daisies, FLETCHER, Brandi Carlile (who is re-recording her album from last year in a more stripped-down fashion, plus a cover of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," which I heard her perform at her concert at the Gorge in June, and Lucius, her opening act/duet partners at that show, released a piece for a Dungeons and Dragons-themed compilation that was also really good.

There are several albums getting released this week, but one stands above the others.  This week features a new Ozzy Osbourne album, which may be his last, he is getting on in years and his health is not what it used to be.  If it is, though, he’s going out in style with guest guitar appearances by Jeff Beck, Mike McCready, Tony Iommi and Zakk Wylde.  This will also feature the team from the previous album, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith and possibly a return of Duff McKagan, though most of the bass was apparently handled by Robert Trujillo, who worked with Ozzy in the 90s and is now the Metallica bass player.  He also played bass for Miley Cyrus’ cover of “Nothing Else Matters,” in fact, most of the band (Watt and Smith, specifically) worked on that recording, so we have some idea what we're in for, awesome, kick-butt metal.   I am also told Taylor Hawkins did drum recordings for the album before he died, so that can be looked forward to as well.  I can definitely tell you; this will be the centerpiece of my Halloween playlist later this month.
