7/15/2021 Update

It's that time of the week again, new music will be coming out at 9:00 pm my time.  We have a new live EP from Blondie, yes, the same Blondie that recorded "Heart of Glass" and "Dreaming" back in the late 1970s, led by Debbie Harry.  It was recorded in 2019 in Havana, so the release seems a little poorly timed given that Cuba is currently rioting over the lack of COVID vaccines.  I'm willing to bet that they couldn't change it when it started, since it started this week, so they may have to bite the bullet.

Resurrection Kings, a supergroup from Frontiers Records with Craig Goldy and Vinny Appice from Dio on guitar and drums, is releasing their second album.  It doesn't sound as good as their first, which was released in early 2016, but most of us have changed a lot since then, becoming more entrenched in our values, so I understand it, it's just some of the song titles and lyrics suggest they think "those Bleeding-Heart Liberals are ruining the Best Damn Country in the World!"

The Tedeschi Trucks Band is releasing a live cover of the famous Layla album originally by Derek and the Dominos, also known as Eric Clapton, Duane Allman and a few other musicians.  Hopefully it lives up to the original's mightily impactful legacy.

There's also a tribute album called "May The Circle Remain Unbroken."  Neko Case from Seattle contributed a song to it, but I'm more interested in the song Gary Clark Jr. did for this one, he always does good work with his blues-rock guitar and amazing vocals.

Anthony Ramos had a good song on the new Space Jam movie soundtrack, but I don't think I'll see the movie.  I was too huge a fan of the original and this one just feels too different and lacks the humor and whimsy that made the original fun (at least, in the trailer).  Really, sequels can be loads of fun, some of my favorite movies are sequels, but I hate it when they throw random stuff they think will be popular to their target audience in, hoping lightning will strike twice, when the first didn't need that for lightning to strike once.  I do think LeBron James is a great human being and I support his crusade for voting rights.  I also like that he agreed to be in such a movie, showing he has quite a sense of humor about himself.

Also, I forgot to include "Met Him Last Night" by Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande and "I Don't Do Drugs" by Doja Cat and Ariana Grande on my Favorites of the First Half list.  That brings the total to sixty and I'll be keeping an ear out for any possible good and favorite future releases on Spotify, Amazon and/or iTunes.
