We have sadly lost a great Classic Rock musician this week. Dusty Hill, bassist for the Blues-Rock band ZZ Top, is gone. He wrote and sang "Tush" for the band and also sang their version of "Baby, Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear" on the "XXX" album. Joan Jett's cover of "Tush" has always been one of my all-time favorite rock songs/love songs, Dusty Hill will be deeply missed. This past week brought us news that Brandi Carlile will be releasing a new album, starting off with a great single called "Right On Time," a single from the long-awaited RWBY Season 8 soundtrack and Joel Hoekstra guesting on a metal song called "Soul Chaser" for Between Worlds, lead-sung by Ronny Munroe. This week brings us 5 interesting new releases.
The first is the second single from Inglorious' upcoming "Heroine" album, a cover of Heart's "Barracuda." Given how well their version of "Midnight Sky" turned out, I'm looking forward to it. Second, Americana singer and friend of the Highwomen Yola's new album comes out tonight, as does an unreleased album by Prince that dealt with race issues in the United States. The fourth release I'm interested in is an EP by Lynda Carter, the Wonder Woman of the 1970s. I've heard her sing before on Spotify and am interested in this new release, especially if this is a new version of her cover of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" or not. Lastly, there's a box set of Aretha Franklin songs called "Aretha." I am also told that on the fourth, the soundtrack for Toho Co. Ltd.'s remake/reboot of the 1960s trilogy "The Great Yokai War" is getting released, with the film also featuring Daimajin, whose original movies were among the few non-Toho movies Godzilla composer Akira Ifukube scored. Hopefully it'll be a good soundtrack and maybe the film will see Western Release as well.
