Some of my Fighting Game Mains

Some people online talk about who they play a lot in a fighting game, their main character(s) that they use in that game.  I decided to make some for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Blazblue Crosstag Battle and Power Rangers; Battle For The Grid.  This is what I have so far, and it is by no means finished (I still have the entirety of Blazblue to get to, 5 Smash Bros. characters and 2 Power Rangers; Battle for the Grid characters) but I hope you enjoy.

Bowser is a heavyweight fighter who delivers slow, yet powerful hits to adversaries.  I mainly use him in Spirit Board Battles to take advantage of his powerful dropkick and upward thrust attacks, which can cause an instant KO if the opponent is damaged enough.  He is also incredibly useful in stamina battles, where his flame breath can wear down an opponent significantly before they get out of it.  Bowser with the right Spirit Team can be utterly lethal on the Battlefield, and even without the spirit team, in regular matches, he is a powerful force that usually wins.  In the context on my fan fictions based on the Super Smash Bros. game and games that went into it, Bowser is now married to Rosalina and keeps fighting Smash Bros. matches to keep in shape.  He has more than a bit of an ego about his fighting prowess due to him rescuing many spirits and fighters from Galleem and Darkhon, as well as beating a generous amount of Tabuu’s event matches.  This pride will often lead to him underestimating an opponent, enabling them to win.

Zero Suit Samus is much the opposite of Bowser; quick, agile, yet without too much power against adversaries.  I tend to overuse the paralyzer whip attack as her when it comes to offense, but I also rush to get items first.  Zero Suit Samus is more often used in Smash Battles, with or without spirits enhancing her, either in one-on-one matches with the CPU or Team Battles with a CPU ally and CPU opponents.  I frequently team her with Zelda due to supporting the Zelmus ship, where Samus and Zelda are lesbian lovers/wives.  However, I will also team her with other strong women, such as Byleth, Pyra/Mythra and the Mii Brawlers.  Samus and Zelda will sometimes team with my Yang and Blake Mii Brawler and Mii Swordfighter or with Byleth and her Edelgard color change, showcasing multiple lesbian couples working together on the Battlefield against a team of enemies.  Her light weight can make team battles hard, as she gain high amounts of damage and you may end up down to your last life too quickly, but she’s fun to play as and delivers nice damage quickly, enabling other team members to deliver the final blow in these matches.

Mii Brawler:

The Mii Brawler is a middle of the road, customizable character slot that enables many different characters to be inserted in the game, whether or not they are video game characters or even fictitious.  I have personally chosen to try to limit myself to human or human-like characters for the Mii Fighters rather than going with the artsy trickery some users use.  The reason for this is I downloaded several Miis onto my Wii back in the day, then I saw Winnie The Pooh speak through his nose.  Commonly used Mii Brawlers include

Yang Xiao Long from RWBY (who I customized to specialize in punching),

Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII (using an outfit Nintendo made available for the game),

Callie from Splatoon (again, using a Nintendo-made outfit),

Shantae from the Shantae series (once again using a Nintendo-made outfit),

celebrity Miley Cyrus,

singer and dancer Moametal from Japanese kawaii thrash metal band BabyMetal,

Shank from Ralph Breaks the Internet,

Mirajane Strauss from Fairy Tail,

Roman Reigns,

Asuka

and Bayley of the WWE,

Makoto Niijima from Persona 5

and Chie Satonaka (in green, customized to specialize in kicks) and Rise Kujikawa (in orange) from Persona 4.

I personally find it amazing that Power Rangers crossed over with Street Fighter in this game, giving Chun-Li and Ryu custom Power Ranger outfits based on their regular outfits, their special moves from Capcom’s games, and even bringing their voice actors to this project.  Yes, Chun-Li is voiced by Laura Bailey of Critical Role, Rise Kujikawa from the Persona series and Lucina in Fire Emblem; Awakening, Fire Emblem; Fates and the Smash Bros. series fame, who brings her excitable side to Chun-Li in this game, a la Rise and Jester, as opposed to her more serious side with Lucina.  Chun-Li has several potent martial arts moves, enabling quick combos.  She has one of the most useful one-special-bar moves, her Spinning Bird Kick, which can cause severe damage to an enemy.  Her two-special-bar attack is her Lightning Kick, where she can kick the opponent over 30 times in an aggressive combo.  It feels good to play Chun-Li again after Street Fighter II Turbo on the Virtual Console way back on the Wii and especially nice to hear Laura Bailey.  Hopefully, the rumors are true and the Switch will get an enhanced port of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, so I can play with Rise Kujikawa and hear Laura Bailey in another fighting game on the Switch.

Udonna was the mentor to the Mystic Force Rangers, the first (and last) Power Rangers I followed regularly.  In the Sentai series that created Power Rangers; Mystic Force, she is very limited in appearances, dying in the first episode and returning sporadically as a ghost.  Udonna is the White Mystic Ranger, and as such, has power over snow and ice.  She mentored the Rangers in the ways of magic, also watching out for her clumsy sorceress niece Claire.  She missed her husband Leanbow and her son, who had both disappeared in the earlier battle between good and evil magic, it was revealed that Nick, the Red Ranger, was her son and one of the villains, Koragg the Knight Wolf, was a mind-controlled Leanbow.  Eventually, he was freed of his mind control and saved Nick from falling into the same trap, ultimately destroying the Master of Dark Magic.  Udonna, Leanbow and Nick then went off to bond after missing each other for 20 years.  Udonna is a mid-range character, less focus on speed, more focus on devastating strikes.  Her ice powers can temporarily stun an enemy, her one-special-bar move gives her orbiting balls that can strike the enemy when they get too close and her two-special-bar move (if pulled off right) will freeze the enemy solid, the ice then shattering, delivering tremendous damage.
